Here is my entry for category #2, the birdfeeder
First of all: I wanted to create an open birdfeeder, because I plan to use it for my budgies and they would be afraid of something too big and closed. Because of the same reason I was careful with the chosen materials and wanted to keep it "bird save".
It was really hard to make it stable enough, but don't worry, it is now. The FIMO Fletchling is at least as heavy as one of my budgies, so it's no problem anymore. I needed more than one try to test that, though...(to be honest, my first try fall off and hit the ground so I had to think of something new...)
Except of that it was the hardest to blend the right color for Starly XD
Well, the birdfeeder has 3/4 places for food: the saucer as main place for seeds, a cord to put other treats on (here a birdfeed ring), a spit for fresh food (fruits, here apple) and if you like, you can place food inside of Natu, too (that's the reason I added it after all).
Oh, and the roof is painted green because it's supposed to remind of a little tree^^'
Materials used:
- branches/wood I collected outside
- cork (for the roof)
- a plastic flower pot saucer (as feeding dish)
- exact 5 nails (to fix the branches to the roof)
- wire (to fix the saucer to the branches, Fletchlings feet)
- cord (to fix the branches, wrapped around the wire to prevent the birds from hurting themselves, to hang the whole thing, to fix the birdfeed ring at the roof)
- a half shashlik spit (for the apple pieces)
- FIMO (for Fletchling)
- modelling clay (to fix the saucer and the Natu)
- a cardbord roll + colored paper (+ glue) (for the Natu)
- simple school watercolors (to paint the roof, Starly and Natu)
- the only non-bird-proof-thing: a thin layer clear paint (for the roof + Natu to make it water proof, just in case for using the birdfeeder outside)
I hope I didn't forget something.
