We had won. Of course, we had. Winning this fight had been our only purpose. Then why did it feel so meaningless? Why did it feel like we had lost?
When the green ever-serpent retreated, there was a feeling of success at first, but it was quickly replaced with a nagging emptiness. Our most intelligent voices tried to come up with a solution, or at least a reason for that, but even they had to give up in the end, defeated by their own cluelessness.
Was it the humans that had done something to us? The thought of that reignited our will for revenge. If they were the reason that we felt like that, they would be paying for it!
Our burning rage washed away the emptiness, and we looked down at the earth. Most of them seemed to have gathered in the huge building that we had been working on together with them, before we had to fight our nemesis. So this would be our new target…

Was this some kind of attack strategy of the humans? When we came closer to the ground, we heard clapping sounds. Apparently, it came from them slamming one of their hands into the other repeatedly.
We landed, ready to attack them, would they make one wrong move. And then, one of them came over and restrained one of us by putting their arms around the scared individual. We assumed a fighting position, ready to strike the human down.
“Thank you for saving us from Rayquaza!” they said. Their voice didn’t sound malicious, but what did we know about humans to be sure about that?
“We are sorry that we opened the water park without you, you know, after you helped to build it, but we weren’t sure you would return.” another one said. Did they just openly doubt our abilities, or were they really worried about us?
“Why don’t you come with us to the bar to celebrate your victory? Drinks are on the house for all of you!” one of them said. Now they were clearly mocking us! We had no mouth, and thus weren’t able to drink anything! But the human had seemed to have realized that as well, soon after. “Oh. Sorry. That was very insensitive of me. But nonetheless, we can celebrate your victory anyway. Do you like dancing?”
They really had no idea that we were here to make them pay for what they did to us. We only waited for our smartest voices to give the order to decimate them. But instead, those voices kept quiet.
Finally, one of them spoke up. But not in the way that we expected. Our voice suggested leaving them in peace, at least for the time being, as they didn’t pose a threat to us. And so we connected our shared mind to their electronic devices again and asked, what dancing was.

Strange, loud and rhythmic sounds came out of black boxes. The sounds stimulated our mind and our bodies were moving like we had no control over them. And there it was again. The contagious joy of the humans that were speaking and shouting to the rhythmic sounds, while they held our limbs and forced us to move to the beat along with them.
And at this moment, there was no emptiness left in us. Whatever they were doing, it helped. It looked like we didn’t have to exterminate them, after all.

Those humans should have watched us dance, dance the night away, even if we were just dancing in the dark! We were happy. We would have betted that we looked good on the dance floor.
But when the beat dropped out, and the people gone, we were alone with ourselves again. Some of the humans had left early, and the remaining ones told us they were feeling exhausted. We didn’t know such a feeling. We just wanted to dance with somebody, dance with somebody! Dance, dance, dance!
So we went to the human who was responsible for playing the music and who attempted to leave, together with the others. She looked a little bit scared, when we stared at her, not letting her through. Her electronic device rang, and she looked at its screen. “W-What? Show you how I did it? But… it’s early in the morning. We should all go take some rest. I’ll be here again tonight.” she promised.
But we didn’t budge. We messaged her: “No, woman! We don’t want to go. We just want to keep on dancing.”
She stared at us for a moment, sighed and went back to her mixer. “Just be careful with the equipment, okay?” she asked before showing us how to operate it.
When she was gone, we were dancing with tears in our eyes. But it were tears of joy. We had proven that we could dance if we wanted to, we just had to leave our friends behind.

The day passed, and it turned night again, and we were still moving our bodies to the beat that one of us was creating. We took turns with using the mixer and being on the dance floor, so every one of us had the chance to play their favorite tunes or dance to them.
But when the daylight faded, we began wondering where the humans were. None of them had returned. Were they still scared of us?
And then we saw the woman from the mixer entering the dance floor.
We messaged her: “Come on, baby, let's do the twist!”
She smiled. “I see, you have made yourself familiar with those songs already. Unfortunately, we don’t have time for dancing today. New strange-looking eggs have appeared and everyone is head over heels for them. I just wanted to check in on you and see if everything is alright. Do you still want to dance?”
We nodded in unison.
“Well then. But don’t overdo it!” she said. “Know your limits.”
And with that, she went away, leaving us on our own again.
Of course, we knew our limits. There were none! Everybody dance now!

“Have you heard about the new ice cream vendor that sells all the scoops?” a passerby asked his friend.
Scott turned his head. Another rival? For real? The past six weeks, he had made at least some money from selling overpriced ice cream cones to gullible customers. He had tried everything to avert their attention from the Prize Shop, which sold them for way less. And now there was another vendor who dared to woo his paying customers away by selling every scoop that he had given out in batches of 15 for the past weeks? If this new vendor had at least tried to be original with their scoops… but no. This clearly was a declaration of war!
A war that Scott would be losing, he knew that for sure. The mart hasn’t been doing well, even after selling ice cream. It was only a matter of time, before he would go bankrupt. He could very well just give up right then and there.
With a sigh, he went inside the empty mart. Not having a lot of customers browsing through his wares had left them with a thick layer of dust. Not that Scott cared. Most of what he still had left to sell were shelf warmers anyway, since the Expedition Base had opened. He was getting pushed out of business systematically. First by Cameron, and now by the new ice cream vendor. Closing the mart for good seemed like the best call now.

The door opened. Probably just a Bug Pokémon that flew too close to the sensor. But no… in the doorway stood a person. A customer? Also, no. Scott noticed the black clothes, the cap and the big, orange “R” on his chest.
A member of Team Rocket? In his mart?
“Stop right there, criminal scum! I will call the police if you set another foot into my store!” Scott exclaimed with more confidence than he actually had.
“Do that, if you want to.” the Rocket member shrugged. “And pass up the opportunity to make some easy money. Your decision. But I’ve heard that you are in dire need of cash, so maybe you’ll listen to me first.”
“What do you want?” Scott asked.
“The same as you: Money.” the man snickered and stepped inside.
Instinctively, Scott reached for the smartphone in his pocket.
The Rocket member turned around and looked outside. “Aren’t you sick of these Mareeple out there? For years, you were their number one source for items, and as soon as an easier option appears, they leave you.”
Scott had already dialed the number of the local police. He would just have to press the green call symbol… but the words of the stranger got to him. “Go on.” he said.
“Don’t you want revenge for what they did to your store?” the gangster let his fingers run over the counter, gathering dust between his fingers, picking it up and turning around to Scott again. “For what they did to you? They are so stupid, they won’t even know that you scammed them!”
“And what do you propose?” Scott asked, the phone already back in his pocket.
The thug smiled. “Come with me. The boss wants to speak to you. He will make you an offer you can’t refuse…”
“Look… I’m an honest man. I don’t want to have anything to do with your criminal activities.” Scott tried to decline as polite as possible, but the Rocket member just laughed.
“Criminal? Do you think, we’d still be around if we were doing something criminal? Shady, sure! Borderline legal, maybe. But criminal? Of course not!” he shook his head. “These Gulpins out there come running to us whenever they want to claim a Special Adopt! And if they somehow missed it in the first place, they are willing to pay us an absurd amount of money! I’m sure, we could even raise those prices even higher, and they’d still pay for it! But our boss has other plans. Plans involving you. Come on! What do you have to lose? Listen to his offer, and if you still don’t want to be a part of it, then so be it. What do you say?”

Oh no, we lost Scott! Anyway... who wants Ice Cream from the Charjabug Cruiser that just hatched from the Monthlies?

Okay, listen up, guys! The fun is over! The park is closed! Due to some severe weather conditions that - according to a trusty Castform - are supposedly going to hit us soon, we are going to have to close the Water Park.
Yes, right now! No, Psyduck, you have used the slide for the last time fifteen times already! Enough is enough!
Yes, Deoxys, we will find you another place to rave, if that’s what you want to do. (Aren’t you exhausted by now?)
Sorry, Swoobat, I know you still haven’t found the right ingredients to make the best drink, but maybe there is no such thing? Everyone has a different taste, you know?

I know you are sad and all, but you can still buy Ice Cream Cones for a week! And maybe, if the park doesn’t get destroyed by the extreme weather, we can see each other again next year? No promises, though!
